Canada's Coolest School Trip: Help us pick the top 10 videos!
From Port Alberni in British Columbia all the way to Nain in Newfoundland and Labrador, we have received videos from Grade 8 and Secondary 2 classes from coast to coast to coast – quite literally. Dozens of schools in every province and even one from as far as Repulse Bay in Nunavut have submitted videos that recreate significant moments related to Canada’s national parks, national historic sites and national marine conservation areas, all in the hopes of winning Canada’s Coolest School Trip.
The deadline for submissions is just hours away, so if you’re working on some last-minute finishing touches on your videos, make sure you leave yourself enough time to submit your final video. If you’ve already submitted a video or, equally, if you haven’t but you want to help send one of the participating classes on the trip of a lifetime, then you’ll be thrilled to know that public voting is officially open as of 12:00 pm ET tomorrow, February 1st! It’s the day we’ve all been waiting for, and we can’t wait to see what kind of response we get from Canadians all over the country as we ask them to vote for their favourite videos to help us narrow down the contenders to just 10 finalists.
To celebrate the launch of the public voting period, we are putting forth a challenge to all Canadians: we want to reach 1,000 votes in the first 24 hours of voting and we need as much help as we can get to reach that goal. Tell everyone you know to get online between 12:00 pm ET on February 1st and 12:00 pm ET on February 2nd and to vote for their favourite videos! Show your support for a deserving class and get your votes in as soon as you can, then keep on voting every day until February 21st.
Not sure how to use your votes? Well, you get three full weeks of votes that you can use however you want. Keep in mind that you don’t have to vote for the same video every day – if there are a handful of videos that you think equally deserve to be in the top 10 then vote for different videos on different days. However you choose to use your votes, make sure to use them all! The classes who made these videos put a lot of hard work into them and they’re counting on their fellow Canadians to help secure their video a spot in the top 10, so help them out and vote as often as you can.
So what are you waiting for? Watch the videos and get ready to vote!!
