Fort Walsh

Become a Mountie for a day! Step into the real shoes – and uniform – of a North West Mounted Police at Fort Walsh National Historic Site. While you're there, don't miss the horse parades, sampling fresh baking at the cook tent, and seeing the guns and other weapons used back in the days when the Mounties ruled the Prairies.

Activities

Become a Mountie for a Day

Now is your chance to get back at the parents. Join the North West Mounted Police and put them under arrest. Maybe put them on trial and see how they defend themselves. You'll need to put on your famous red tunic and a pillbox hat and learn some police drills in order to perform your duty.

Find out if you'd make a good Mountie and always get your man by going on a scavenger hunt. Mounties ruled the praires in the 1880s – now you can rule – for a day!

At one time, Fort Walsh was the place where the horses for the police and the musical ride were bred. See these noble and majestic animals on parade - they are truly spectacular.
