Activities

Camping at Green Point Campground

Prepare to be one with nature – and bring your swimsuit! Camping at Green Point is an adventure in sea, shore and sky. You'll camp in the woods and take a trail to the beach below. If the water's warm enough, you can swim in the vast Pacific Ocean. Or paddle along the shore to view the majestic Pacific coastline from another perspective. Watch the ebb and flow of the tides and check out a tide pool for gifts from the ocean. Be sure to bring your campstove and everything you'll need because it's pretty rustic out here.

Hiking the Trails of Long Beach

You don't need to go to the Amazon to find a rainforest. We have them right here in Canada. Our rainforests are temperate, not tropical. That means we have more coniferous trees than they do in the south. But the effect is the same – lush and moist under a soaring canopy of green. Or if the beach is more to your liking, take a stroll on the coast and keep an eye out for whales. And don't forget the bogs and the birds. There's so much to see you'll want to keep your eyes open all the way.

How much time will I need?

  • Overnight. Depending on your experience, this trail will usually take between 5 and 7 days.

Do I need any special equipment or gear? What else should I bring?

  • Bring appropriate clothing. Aim for quality and lightweight equipment. Proper boots, rain clothes, backpack, tent, sleeping bag, cook stove and propane, toiletries, food, first aid kit, and a tide table is important.

Is this activity free?

  • No, you will need to pay for a back country permit to stay overnight.

When's the best time to do this?

  • The trail is open early May to late September. Peak season is mid-June to mid-September.
