Take in costumed presentations

The former home of Sir George-Étienne Cartier and his family is an example of life in the time of Queen Victoria. The family was quite well-to-do and very prominent in Canadian politics. Many influential people would have visited during the family's occupation.

Several times a day, life in the house is recreated in a 30-minute costumed animation. Learn what it was like on both sides of the kitchen door. Domestic servants were a common feature of life for the middle-classes in 19th century Montreal. Maintaining a large household was a lot of work without time-saving appliances. Laundry could take all day! And when it came to entertaining it was all hands on deck.

Life was so different then. Do you think you'd like it better? Come and find out.
